Writing
We aim to foster a love for writing as a fundamental skill that underpins not only academic success but also personal expression and creativity. Our intent is to develop confident, competent and reflective writers who can articulate their thoughts and ideas clearly, coherently, and creatively across various genres and formats.
We focus on the following key objectives:
- Engagement and Motivation: To create a stimulating and inclusive writing environment, using picture books to inspire all students to engage in writing activities and foster a sense of ownership and independence in their learning.
- Quality of Writing: To ensure that all children develop a rich vocabulary and an understanding of grammar, punctuation, and spelling through the explicit teaching of these skills, allowing them to produce high-quality writing.
- Personal Development: To explore key themes that and encourage self-expression and personal reflection through writing, helping students to understand the importance of their voice and perspective in the world.
- Reflective learners: To encourage children to be reflective writers who give and receive feedback and use this to develop as confident writers who write as a reader.
