Religious Education

Religious Education is an important part of our curriculum, helping pupils to understand and respect the diverse world in which they live.

We follow the Oak National Academy RE curriculum, which provides a carefully structured and progressive approach to learning about different religions and worldviews. Through this, pupils develop knowledge, understanding and respect for a range of beliefs, practices and traditions.

We are committed to providing meaningful, real-life experiences. This year (2026) we have pledged that by the time children leave Fonthill, they will have visited all major places of worship, helping them to deepen their understanding through first-hand experiences and connections with the wider community.

Celebration and inclusion are at the heart of our RE offer. Throughout the year, we recognise and celebrate a range of religious festivals, including Christmas, Eid, Holi and Easter, ensuring that pupils develop an appreciation of different cultures, traditions and beliefs.

RE at Fonthill encourages children to ask questions, reflect on their own values and learn from others. Through discussion and shared experiences, pupils develop respect, empathy and an understanding of their place in a diverse society.

Our aim is to develop thoughtful, open-minded and respectful individuals who are well-prepared to live and thrive in modern Britain.

Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE). We would always recommend arranging a meeting with the school to discuss this further so we can support your understanding of the curriculum. If you still wish to withdraw your child, this must be requested in writing to the Headteacher.
